This morning i hit the power button on my PC...nothing happens. My amp and monitor had power so the 4 way hadn't blown. With a sinking feeling i tried another kettle lead only to find.......it was in fact the kettle lead that had broken and my computer was fine!

its nice when you find out a problem was something simple to fix :)
all my problems seem to happen on a friday night when the highstreet is my only option to buy whats needed to fix it, normally costs me twice what i could get it for online too

I hate it when that happens (makes you feel like you got mugged)

Cool sto.. nvm

Lucky you!

I had problems with my PC randomly shutting down. Thought it was thermal, so added fans, removed side, changed airflow. Only after about a week of trying things did I get a brainflash. The 24-pin ATX power lead wasnt quite seated right. No idea why it wouldnt have been clipped in properly. Problem fixed. Cost me nowt! (Thankfully!)

Funny how people who know about PCs immediately start worrying about blown PSU's, fried motherboards and cpu's, and other expensive stuff, whereas the first thing my dad would tell me to check is the plug fuse :D

heh nice, i had that problem, however oddly it was fine when I last used it, turned everything off cos I was going out, I do this at the plug, turned it on nothing happened everything was dead so i found a new extension lead. worked after that

I had a similar problem was with my Belkin UPS I used to have I absoloutely panicked thinking it had blown and somehow taken out my pc with closer inspection I saw the power button had snapped out on its own accord, so a quick run down to the highstreet to get mugged for a new one and all was well again
