Im actully getting really annoyed lol.

Weather to get the VISTA ULTIMATE Version, want to see what all the extras are like.

Or the Home Premium retail Edition.

What are you guys going for and why?

I think Home Premium will suffice for most users. Take a look at this comparison page

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/getready/editions/default.mspx

I suppose what you have to ask yourself is will you use the extra features that ultimate provides, my guess is that the average user wont. But obviously i cant speak for everyone.

Basically go for the version that you think will suit you best. If you wont use the extra features in ultimate, then save yourself a few quid and go for home premium instead.

Yeah i dont know if ill use the extra features.

First the Easier Connectivity that could come in handy.

Then the Bitlocker technology, i dont have a motherboard that supports that.

But i have heard that Microsoft will be releasing all new extras that you can download from widows update and dont know what they are going to be.

Home basic with pda connectivy would be perfect for me. Everything in the more expensive versions is done better with free software.

Ding Ding Ding i think we have a winner.

The only thing i thinking about Ultimate is the Easier Connectivity, because i have a wireless network and you know d/c every so often.

Not sure if the Ultimate Easier Connectivity is going to help a lot?

If you would be so kind could someone recommend a program thats good for wireless networks if you see what i mean?

Thanks

I don't personally use any programs for wireless networks, xp's built in wizard works fine for me, encryption etc and I've just setup my laptop to allow my pda to access the local lan through it using wifi easily.

As far as I'm aware easier connectivity is referring to remote desktop.

The problem with disconnecting it possibly due to low signal strength or a poor router. What hardware are you using?

Hi I am building a Windows PC for a mate (I am on Linux) and I was wondering which version of Vista to get him. I doubt he will be upgrading for a couple of years which suggets the OEM version but is that upgrade only or can you run a fresh install off it?

A fresh install will work fine.
