Silly question, but how do you revoke an install of a game like Far Cry 2. Doesn't the un-installer do this for you?
I think you a registering on a server when you install a game, that is why you need an internet connection to play some games.
Uninstalling a game does not reverse that and it is still registered on the server that you used an install.

Any idea what the install limit of EA games are? I had the Sims 2 in 2004, installed once but I have since reformatted over it without any thoughts of revoking the game. I've also got Sims 3 now which is installed once. Does Sims 2 & 3 need to be revoked if I'm due to reformat?

On a similar note - I have installed SP Pro OEM 4 times now, not probs at all.

^^Sims 2 is from before EA started doing this as far as i know.

I don't know about Sims 3. Most games don't have a revoke tool, but some do. RA3 for example has one in the options section which allows a deauthorise until the game is next run. Some others may have the same thing. Most of the time however you need to phone up the games company.

Unlimited installs on 5 seperate machines (formatting the PC considers it a "new" PC), revoking a license free's it up for a new PC. AFAIK Sims 3 doesnt use any activation stuff, just a disc check.

Thanks LinkToInsanity and to BoozerDawg for the info :-) As far as I can remember, the only EA games I bought are Sims 1 / 2 / 3, so nothing else to worry about at my end game-wise. My non-EA games are from e.g. Microsoft, Squaresoft, Atari and Blizzard.

So if I deicide to upgrade my system this year, I'm pretty much stuffed then. My daughter plays Sims 3 - she won't be happy if we can't re-install the game :(
