God of War 1 & 2 for PS3?

PS2 games are small in size. Imagine how many they could fit onto a BD50. That would be pretty awesome to have a collection of the best ps2 games on 1 disc.

Something like that just sounds too good to be true.
 
They need to recode the games to run on the Ps3 though, I've no idea how much work that would take.
A MGS collection would sell like hot cakes though, FF too I'd imagine.

Nah, they just need to write an emulator for it. The reason why they haven't done this for all PS2 games is that writing emulators for all of them would take huge amounts of time, money and effort. Writing emulators for specific games that use the same engine isn't anywhere near as difficult. The problem is getting it to run efficiently across all titles, the PS1 emulator probably isn't that efficient but due to the incredibly low powered hardware the titles used to run on the PS3 can handle even poorly optimized emulation with ease, the PS2 would be far more demanding and because of this requires a more efficient emulator.

Another good example of emulation would be the sega ultimate collection, those titles simply run on an emulator too, the games weren't recoded.

all special editions should have:

special packaging (tin/sleeve/shiny :p)
OST
Art book
+ something unique/collectable

gow 1&2 would be an awesome addition though.
