God & Science Proved!

Does wishing you believed in God make you aethiest?

Can you guys classify me?

I want to believe there is more to existence than just an accident that evolved into what we are today. I went to church until I was 16, I was baptised, Comfirmed and followed religion under C of E. I even spent some time as an alterboy(No priests played with my funzone thankfully)

I believe the big bang theory, I believe evolution, and I find the concept of a God impossible, yet would love to be proven wrong.

Now here is where I send things weird, I am very spiritual. I practice meditation, I believe in Zen, Chakra and the fact we have a connection with the earth. As we're all made of the same thing at a sub atomic level. I don't believe in any of this to the point it's magic.

What am I? Is there such a thing as a Spiritual Aethiest? Maybe not everyone can be labelled and thrown into a category?

Personally, I would say I'm an Atheist, based on the evidence I have seen. I prefer to see facts and evidence, and made conclusions based on them. To that end, I don't think there's a god. However, would I like to be wrong? Yes.

To die and that be the end of that is a very shallow prospect indeed. Rather, I'd prefer it if there was a god and there was an afterlife. However, as I have seen no evidence of this, I cannot put my blind faith into it. I guess while I am closed off to the concepts without evidence behind them, I am still open minded to the possibility that they could be real? I'm not sure how to describe it.

I guess we shall see in time. :)

(Oh, and this thread is making me shake my head. Yes, lets all quote our stupidly high - and very unbelievable - IQ's and make pedantic arguments at each other for pages! Stop it, children.)

Wannabedamned, I think you are just open minded....:)

:D I like that

Religion: Open Minded :p I think I'll use that from now on. I always used Agnostic for some reason, But there are so many damn rules to follow when you're putting yourself into a category that doesnt involve believing in God wholeheartedly

I veer between atheist and agnostic. None of the Gods so far described to me are really all that believable but I could not conclusively say that there isn't anything out there.

Pot, meet Mr Kettle, he's black.

I don't spend all my time here by any means, but sharing knowledge and correcting ignorance (wilful or otherwise) and preventing its spread is a hobby.

Dangerous and stupid thing to say when you have very bias views when it comes to other subjects such as politics for example.

My mind is always open to changing, given good evidence why I am wrong. indeed, my mind has been changed on some subjects by various posters.

I am also very honest about both the assumptions and evidence that underpin my views

but the real question is, how the **** did a cave man 1400 yrs ago know all those facts and I am just pointing out the subject of space and universe, there are medical and biological, geographical, chemical...etc facts that is written in the book which has been discovered by Top scientists in the last 70 years; they are all accurate without any single faults in them. Its either this cave man is one smart dude with magical tools, or he is a true prophet and God does exist.

Thanks for reading.

"cave men" were longer than 1400 years ago.

3000BC was the start of the bronze age, and documented history in the form of the Ancient Egyptians along with many others.

"Cave Men" or the stone age, was around 10,700 to 9400 BC.

Also there is nothing to say that any religious book is 100% factual, or even partially factual, it all depends on "faith" as there are no hard facts to support these type of ancient scriptures.

I feel the same way, I really really wish I could believe in it, and have some hope/something to count on. But I just can't, it goes against all logic I have :/

I was too christened and grew up in a COE school, but do not believe in god.

Maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnostic_atheism ? (you never know!)

look if there was a god then science would not exsist

You may actually benefit from reading the thread itself rather than just the title, most of what you are saying has already been comprehensively answered in one form or another. Effectively all you are doing is making yourself look a bit dim.

Haven't read this thread in a while and forgot about what I'd put. Just like to say thanks for the honest reply. Good to see you aren't firmly sat on a high horse :P
