My PC is periodically making horrible screeching noises (well, the speakers are). It can play music and stuff, for a bit, but it just cuts out to very electronic sounding scratches, hisses and white noise. There's also sounds that are like distant, tinny drums. Really weird.
Basically it's making my PC unusable unless it's on mute...
It's only ever done this once before, and that was when I had a BSOD.
I've heard of a scratchy noise problem with the X-Fi range, but I'd no idea it was this bad - but that might be down to having a 7.1 setup.
I'm gonna reinstall the drivers now and hope that sorts it, but if not... any ideas?
