Godskitchen announced their final gig back in June 2016, called "The Final Dance" and then called it a day. Sad news, but Trancecoda (another Birmingham dance brand) was still going strong and so I went to several of their gigs too. Then in 2018, the Trancecoda venue got sold and we lost that as well. I thought the dance scene was dead in the water and this was even before covid.

Now Godskitchen has announced #GKXXV (XXV as in 25th anniversary). In a new venue called The Crane. Bit of a weird name. I've got my ticket, and I'm hoping it's not just a one-off. If they can fill a 3000-capacity venue just 3 or 4 times a year, I would be happy with that.

Are there any other dance brands still surviving post-covid?

A bit far away from me, but nice one nonetheless.

This morning, Godskitchen has advertised an after-party, in the Crane's basement. I've now got a ticket for that too and it means I'll stay in the same venue. 2AM-6AM :-)
