Hi there

Went to Japfest yesterday in the Jaaag which continues to excel at it's role of being a comfort barge. Anyway quite a few nice cars but more importantly checked out DoDo stand, got their recommendation on what wax to use for a yellow car. I left with:-
- dodo glossy shampoo
- dodo paint cleaner wax
- dodo clay bar
- dodo clay bar lube
- dodo banana armour wax
- assortment of applicators and ultra soft micro fibres.

I then went over to Meguiars stand and got:-
- NZXT shampoo
- lambs wool MIT
- ultimate compound (polish, restorer and swirl remover)

Plan was an early rise Sunday to do all this to the car, but instead I went on a drive to Wales (triangle) with 5 GT3's and Naithwraith, this was epic, but meant I did not get home until 3pm. Still I decided I had enough time to do the car, so I did the following:-
- two buckets, one with nzxt shampoo the other with dodo
- wash car with dodo and wheels with next, then rinse.
- car still wet I clayed the car with dodo clay and lube
- rinse and dry.
- then used Meguiars ultimate compound, damn it's hard to get off, but it did seem to remove some scratches and reduce swirls. :)
- then waxed with dodo paint cleaner wax.
- then applied banana armour wax.

The results:-

I finished it but barely in time but my car has never had this level of shine or reflectiveness before. Weather permitting I shall do some daylight shots in the week. :)
But needless to say am very impressed and the dodo products were so easy to apply and remove. :)
 
the ultimate compound is easier to get off if its been left to set on the car for a bit as it dries out slightly and flakes off, try not to get it on any plastics or window rubber though as it can mark them! a d.a polisher makes it very easy to apply and remove.

I've found DODO to be rather overrated and expensive at the same time.

I've had beautiful results with a combo of, prep with autosmart, menz glaze and the best wax which I have ever used.....AUTOSMART WAX.

Found it better, nice to work with, a cleaner glossier glassier finish and more durable than the likes of swissvax, dodo etc.

Yeah don't think I allowed it enough drying time as it was smearing a bit when buffing off, but it seems to cut well and with a machine polisher imagine it would remove nearly all swirls.

The shine from the dodo stuff is unreal. Just glad I spent so long prepping the car, as an EVO owner at Japfest I got chatting too with the shiniest car ever said the finish is all about the prep and told me go chat to the dodo guys so I did and very happy with results. :)

I normally use 476S as it mental durable, last for yonks. Shine not sure how it compares as in fairness the end result ice got could be down to the prep I did. :)
 
the first time i clayed my car i was shocked at how much invisible dirt came off, lots of rust like specs (brake dust) and tiny little black marks from over spray all came off, you know you have clayed it well if the area you have done stops making that scratchy noise when you rub the bar across and your hand glides across the paint.

my process is

jet wash the whole car, wheel arches, under the car and all trim peices (especially in the bit where they meet the body)

snow foam and leave for a few mins

jetwash again

wool mitt the entire car

clay the car

polish

wax
do the wheels last if you dont have a spare cloth
cup of tea and enjoy

I've got dozens of tubs of posh waxes and polishes and I still keep coming back to Autoglym Super Resin and Collinite 476. Seems to be the best combo on any car/bike I've had.
 
I tried to use the MucOff Detailing Wax (in spray form) over the weekend and I can't see any difference it's made. Autoglym Hi Def Wax still produces the best results IMO. May take a look at these Dodo products though...

Hi m8

Ive never ever used the Super Resin polish, but agreed on Collonite 476S, its exceptional, I am sure the shine would be more or less as good as I have now as I feel its probably the prep which has made the paint have such good clarity.

I have a bottle of SRP that I've not used yet. I'm too lazy to go outside and get it, so how is it used? Just rub in, let dry and buff out?

That is basically it. SRP doesn't really have any cutting action to it so there is no need to work it too hard but working it in a little will help it just to take off any surface crud.

I've heard that it is full of fillers and shine enhancers so effectively doesn't do anything to deal with light surface scratches or swirls but instead masks them which is why a decent wax over the top is needed to keep the effect.

Even on our two silver cars the effect after SRP and a wax is excellent.

I've always found Collinite easy to apply and remove. It's hard to see at times, which I guess could lead to some people caking it on and you can miss bits if you're not careful, but it doesn't take a lot of elbow grease in my experience.

My routine used to be SRP+Collinite, but last time I bought some Zymol Cleaner Wax and find that's nicer to work with than SRP because it's not dusty. Smells lovely as well.
 
SRP is a lovely product

goes on easily, comes off easily. its good at lifting a little extra dirt from the car or a very light cut if used with a buffer

always comes of easily and cleanly.
