How much of a improvement would i see going sli with my system see sig
my monitor is a asus 22" with a resolution of 1680 x 1050 i now i can run everything great with one 8800gts card but i want to future proof myself for when newer games are released.

does anybody have 2 8800gts in sli if so how much difference does it make.

have some money burning a hole in my pocket thats all.

I'd say no point at the moment mate. I run the same res as you and mine has no probs. I'd say wait a while as the GTS may come down in price in the next couple of months as new cards start appearing, or you could pick a 2nd hand one up cheap as people upgrade.

my friend just built up an 8800 GTS sli rig for someone. He said in benchmarks there is not much improvement but there is a real frame boost in game and that is on a 22" belinea.

He said for R6 he had to rename the executable FEAR and then the frames doubled, so there are little tweaks you can do to boost your frames on games with out SLI profiles

Can I just ask, would 8800 SLI work on an nForce 4 board or does it only work on the latest nVidia chipset?

my current board is nforce 4 and itll work on it but, i think each pcie slot drops to x8 in sli

I really wouldn't bother mate.

I run a single 8800gts in 1920x1200 and it takes everything I throw at it without blinking an eye.
No point getting another one now to future proof yourself, just buy it later on when you can get one for half the price.

Save the money to put towards another GFX card when more DX10 cards are out, it's a waste just because it's burning a hole in your pocket when no games require that kind of power at the moment.

wait mate, like fellas already mentioned there is no need, and no games atm to make u happy with 2x GTS! :)

It totally depends on what games you play, i can easily drop my gtx into very low frame (sometimes unplayable) rates on 12x10 res with everything maxed out in a few games.

Will go sli when i get my 24/30" screen and c2d/q rig. :)

With a 8800gts

What games are you playing?

I get perfectly playable framerates on FEAR and Hitman:Blood Money at 1920x1200
they both stay around 60 and drop under on some bits, but it is never problematic.
