From what ive heard the B3 Q6600 is pretty hot, so a decent third party heatsink would undoubtedly be needed. What cooling do you have or were your initial intentions to use the stock cooler?

Also do you have an idea of what clockspeed you'd like to get (3Ghz, 3.2Ghz...?)

I have no experience with the 680i chipset unfortunately, but Ive read early releases weren't too sharp for overclocking. Im sure others will chime in though.

i have the Noctua NH-U12F CPU Cooler (link)

i am wanting to go for 3.0ghz.

You should be able to hit that comfortably :) Best advise I can give is to read the online guides thoroughly and get some grounding before you delve into the BIOS.

I have recently done the same overclock (for the first time too) and found it a lot easier than i was expecting. Just give yourself plenty of time for testing to make sure its stable :D
