just change your username in the edge settings, add a 0 to the end or something.

If it's Jailbroken, download BossPrefs and switch off EDGE.

i thought there was a slide bar in the settings that said dont allow data roaming or something?

Yeah data roming is turned off.

If data roaming is off you don't need to worry about roaming charges.

It should be automatically/default off.

well if you want to only use it for video/music why dont you put it into 'flight' mode (can't remember if thats the right name), ie the mode which switches off the cellphone bits for flights etc but still lets you play music/video.
