Hi Guys,

Wondering if any of you wonderful people could help me get my Ram up to speed.

My PC details Ryzen 5 1600,corsair 550 PSU, MSI GTX 970 and a MSI B350 Gaming Plus Motherboard.

I first bought Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15W Vengeance LPX 16 GB Wouldn't shift from 2133 MHZ Using XMP and all the other settings on Motherboard bios try it now etc also manually inputted timings.

Then bought Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16W Vengeance LPX 16 GB again tried all the settings wouldn't shift from 2133 MHZ then i read up a bit and learned these were both version 5.39 which meant Hynix and not the version 4.31 which are Samsung -b

So now i bought another set which are Corsair CMU32GX4M4C3400C16 Vengeance White LED version 4.31 which are confirmed by typhoon burner to be single sided Samsung -b dies.

i only have 2x8 GB of the 32 GB kit but from what i have read that's fine because they are from same set.

These are 3400MHZ and my motherboard QVL has them on the list as compatible but only running at 3200MHZ MHZ but they still don't clock passed 2133mhz so far with what i have tried.

The timings on ram are 16.18.18.36 i have inputted the XMP data into Ryzen Dram calculator 1.2.0
calculate safe and then tried those settings in bios but keep having same same scenario where wont start after 5 tries then defaults to 2133MHZ at this point i would be happy to get them to run at 2134MHZ cause its driving me nuts that none of the ram works above SPD.

I have added some pictures from CPUZ , MSI ,Dram calculator and Typhoon Burner in the hope someone can give me some advice

Thanks :)

Hi thanks for reply,

tried every function built into MSI motherboard for ram clocks ,Bios is up to date.
correct memory slots 2 and 4 are being used for the 2x8 gigs of ram i have.

Will try the ram voltage and soc voltage you suggested

Cheers

Well tried 2933mhz with those voltages still same results not happening, i,m thinking its the motherboard or CPU 3 sets of memory and not even 2400MHZ.
Anyway will leave it for now as the England games coming up!

Thanks for help

Hi guys,

Update on this problem , seems CPUZ and windows were reporting i had 16 GB dual channel installed and i just assumed that the readings were correct well it turns out they were false after checking task manager i could see that only 8 GB was installed so then went on to check the ram and dimms and it turns out that the ram is OK but 3 and 4 slots are faulty, LED still works on them but that's it.

Using just 1 x 8 gig in the working dimm 2 allows xmp profile to work on both 1 and 2 all the way up to 3333MHZ.

Now i am onto the next task which is to unseat the CPU again to check for any bent pins as apparently this is one of the common causes of faulty dimms and If this is not the problem then it will only leave the motherboard left which is the least expensive part of my PC to replace.

Will update after checking CPU.

That was it a single bloody pin on CPU ever so slightly bent and a couple of pins that had a little thermal paste on them used a razor to straighten it and clean.
and voila bobs your uncle.

unbelievable the headache this caused me.

Thanks for the help jamin and the rest who chimed in.

nearly feels as good as the England win !
