Going flying for the first time!

Just about to go for a quick flight in a Cessna with an old friend. Was going to be an afternoon in his Caterham but it's tax and mot is out

But he's taking me for a flight in a cessna, which he's not flown for a few years :eek:

as he's flying hawks..

He says I should be scared as he's not flown one in ages and he's scared, and we'll have to do some practice landing and emergency procedures first.

Will be taking photos of the ensuing fun/chaos (mods delete as appropriate).

I'll either post them here or they'll be on bbc news.

Yeah I think it was exactly like that for him! Trying to get into the clouds was an effort for it.

That ^ I don't think he has a lot of spare time for it, it ran out last week and has just bought a new car.

By the way, I'm the guy with the dark hair. He's had a load of flying experience, and next year will be training in the Eurofighter I believe.

I'm 22 in December and he's just turned 22.

It's definitely something I feel glad about ticking off my list! I feel lucky to have a friend who'd pay for something like this out of his own pocket!

Next time we're going for the Isle of Wight, or somewhere of similar distance, and maybe put the plane in a spin apparently. :eek:

He hired it, although when we were leaving a guy offered to take him up flying in a half a million £ aircraft to see the red arrows from above in formation down in Bournemouth. We went for dinner instead lol.

Yeah we were up it seemed fairly straight forward to fly it. Cost of hire is around £150 an hour and an extra £10 for a four seater. Don't have to pay while you're on the ground though as that would probably scare people off doing day trips to places.
