Hi all,

Basically, over the Christmas period i want to try something along the lines of an extreme OC on the rig in my sig. I want to see if i can push to 4.8 or 5.0. For this i will obviously set all fans, and my ALC Vantage on max etc, and i will get a fresh windows install on a different HDD just in case, but i also will need to save my current bios settings and select whats best for a temporary maximum.

Does anybody know the ins and outs of the Ex4 G3 ASRock board and can tell me what settings i might need to enable/disable. Also any tips on what to look out for in the process would be great.

I don't want to be party pooper but your seriously building yourself for a short lived hype. 200MHz is probably negligible.

Whats your vcore at the moment? to get the 4.8GHz?

im not at 4.8 at the moment. Im at 4.6, i havent really changed the voltage much to get to this point, i was just a little lazy and settled at 4.6 once i got it. Didn't really push any limits for attempt to get Vcore as low as possible.

I ran a 2600K at 1.512V, 5Ghz for about 5 months and I didn't notice any degradiation, although temps rarely went above 60C

I'm not saying 1.5V+ is safe, but aslong as your temps are reasonable (below 80C) then for benchmarking I think 1.5V is ok for the Vcore.

Interesting, Just wondering about load line calibration. It is designed to offset the effects of Vdroop on the core when the current increases? But how do i want to manage this? i think i get 5 levels on asrock ex4 gen3, level1 implies constant while level 5 has a steep gradient. assuming that level 5 allows a large Vdroop while level 1 offsets all voltage drops.

Am i right? or completely wrong?

They definately have, if you look on the 2500k they sell on OCUK they give the voltage limit at the bottom of the page. Intel do sometimes say 1.52v but that is just because it is possible, but not necessarily safe.

I will prob just push up the very maximum that OCUK insist is safe then, maybe a little over. I dont need a long term OC on high V, i just wanna see how far mine will go.
