I've got an old 3200+ CPU 939 CPU.

I've noticed that in games like supreme commander things get really laggy.

I'm not looking to change too much in my system, hence why I don't want to go for a dual core intel.

Will I notice a big difference going to a 3800+? It's only £100....or should I just put up with it and upgrade fully in a few months?

Hi, I would have thought you will only notice any difference with programs that can use both of the cores, which are quite rare. You see, if I am correct, you are going from a 2.2ghz CPU, to a 2.0ghz, so things actually might be slower...

supreme commander will get a huge performance boost mate, but other games/apps that dont utilise dual core will probably give a slight drop in performance..

Stock speed there both the same i think, a 939 3200+ is 2Ghz as is a 939 3800+

Id have a look round for a used 4400+ as ive seen them going for under a hundred quid, theres one in MM now for £90

Should be better the the 3800+ plus has double the cache :)

Plus with what you'd get for your old cpu it wouldnt work out that expensive

Before you go out and buy another CPU, how much memory do you have? If you only have 1GB you should upgrade it before the CPU.
