Hi all,

I currently own a set of 5.1 Creative i-Trigue speakers:

Speaker Power
9 Watts RMS per channel (4 channels)
Center Satellite: 15 Watts RMS
24 Watts RMS subwoofer
5.1 design with distinctive curved satellites in black, with silver highlights and bright metal stands. Adds style to any environment
Revolutionary Acoustic Loaded Module projects enhanced upper bass performance for natural, warm tonality
NeoTitanium Tri-Array technology and three high-precision Titanium dome microdrivers per satellite for dynamic, precise sound and wide sound stage. Reinforced wood subwoofer delivers powerful bass
Wired remote with auxiliary connectivity combines comfort and versatile use with different technology platforms
Up-mix feature converts stereo inputs from personal and digital audio players to full 5.1 surround

I have no use for 5.1 speakers, or the space for them. So I am looking to get a high-end 2.1 or 2.0 set.

I have the following questions:

1) Are speakers like the Z-2300 going to be a downgrade for me or an upgrade (in terms of power, sound quality etc)
2) I want powerful sound that sounds very good. Should I be looking at PC speakers at all, or an amp and speaker set instead

Thanks in advance,

Pound for pound, are bookshelf speakers and an average amp going to give me better sound than any set of PC speakers I can find?/

Majority of listening will 100% be music, via my X-Fi Xtreme Music card.

@Keeny; I am half giving them up because I want better and do not need 5.1 speakers (in fact, cannot use them).

Hmm - I have no use for floor standing speakers (I think), but I think £50 is worth it for the amp alone?

Also, why do I need an amp for bookshelfs when PC speakers do not need an amp?

Ok, well I will take the plunge I think! Amp and bookshelf speakers for me it is. Do I need anything other than this to connect my soundcard to an amp?
