Guys (and Gals - if there are any that frequent such a forum). I have just ordered a new HIS1900XT 512Mb card from OcUK which will (God willing) arrive tomorrow.
Now, I have a 6800GT and in the past when I have switched graphics manufacturers I have just gone and done a complete system re-install. However, this time I really can't be bothered. I have heard about this Driver cleaner program that may get rid of this hassle for me, so could anyone tell me where I find it, what version I need, when to use it, etc.
For instance (and this is the order I imagine I would do it in), do I:
1) Uninstall my old card,
2) Reboot with the old card in, not allow autodetect,
3) Run the driver cleaner,
4) Shut down,
5) Install new card, boot up
6) Install drivers for new card
Have I got that right? Am I missing anything?
Also, how can I tell if it has been a success? Is there an acid test? I don't want to get my new card in, run Oblivion and find that the performance is not a good as I thought and not know whether it is the actual cards performance or that I haven't installed it correctly.
Cheers in advance for your advice.
