Going mad. Keyboard not working in some apps

Hi

My sons computer is driving me up the wall. The keyboard is not working in games, apps or when using something like cortana. It works find in a web browser, it works fine on a different computer. My keyboard also does the same thng when plugged into his computer. I have tried different usb port, tried uninstalling it and reinstalling. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Have you got the right USB drivers?
Have you tried uninstalling & reinstalling them?
What’s the keyboard?

Its just a bog standard USB keyboard, tried it on another computer and its fine. Tried a different keyboard on his computer and it did the same thing. It worked fine yesterday and for the last 6 months. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard drivers. It works in web browers, just not in games or any microsoft apps, like cortana, sticky notes, cmd, powershell etc...

I'm going to reinstall windows.

Open Task Scheduler and check if "Microsoft\Windows\TextServicesFramework\MsCtfMonitor" is enabled and running.
