Hi,

I have just got a shiny new Lenovo X220 laptop.

It has no DVD drive but I want to try a few Linux ISOs out from a bootable CD, so I am trying to use a USB drive instead.

I have tried most of the methods here: http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm

but either the applications do not work or I cannot download them because the links are broken. I also do not have a Windows CD for my X220.

Can anyone help me out with an idiot proof method for making a bootable USB drive? I have wasted hours on this today :)

Thanks

Have you tried UNetbootin? I find it's one of the most reliable ways of setting up a bootable USB drive. You just need to make sure it's formatted correctly (FAT, I think) before you tell it to copy over the ISO.

Thanks- seems like I have/ had a dodgy USB stick- another one worked fine with unetbootin

:)
