Going on holiday alone?

I think its ok to go alone, you might be lucky and tag with some other people. Probably as above visiting/seeing places holiday would be best, also I know few people that did go traveling on their own for months to Australia or South Africa.

I did go alone once on holiday, rock climbing course, it was wicked.

Don't know if I would do it. A singles holiday might turn out good. Infact, it would probably turn out very good

I go on my own all the time :)
In the last few years i have been to Canada, NYC, Boston, and later this year i am off to Australia/NZ. Travelling on your own is the best way to do it if you actually want to get anything done :D

I'm having a hard time trying to find someone to visit france, belgium and holland on a ww2 geeky type trip so i'll more than likely be going alone:p

But yea I think it'd be a little weird to go on a lads holiday/clubbing holiday alone.

I'd love to go to (& live in) Singapore / Dubai / Hong Kong but none of my friends or even girlfriend would ever consider it really, the only way I could really try and coax people in would include it in a RTW trip. And go for: Singapore > Thailand > Bali.

But there's nothing stopping you, would be better to go with an organised trip (where you'll be surrounded by people who want to get to know people) rather than being totally solitary, unless you're fine with that.

Depends where you go - a clubbing holiday would be sad imo, but an exploration/museum visiting type would be ok.

With a clubbing holiday you wouldn't have to worry about your mates cockblocking you whilst trying to pull ;)

I went to Ibiza on my own in 2007 - it was quality. First time I went tbh. If you're going out clubbing you're gunna meet loadsa people anyway.

I was in the same boat, friends that couldn't commit. Admittedly I did have friends over there working the season, but I was only with them for a day or two.

I say do it. Make sure it's a proper clubbing holiday, not a drinking holiday like Zante et al.

I've been to Japan twice with mates, and I've always had a week alone travelling, it's nice. I also went to Paris by myself and met my girlfriend of now a year. :)

Just to show you how worth going away by yourself is. :p

A friend of mine has done Normandy a few times on a geeky WW2 trek, he often goes on his own although he often meets up with other geeky WW2 types :D

:O

Ive been to omaha and gold beach, the trenches around ypres, pegasus bridge and caen and nijmegan but would LOVE to go again as I was very young at the time...

i went to the USA for a month by myself the other summer, but i went to places where i had friends, so that doesn't really count :p

although i did have a few days in NYC by myself at the end of the trip, on the way home.
the daytime was fine, as i just went where i wanted, did what i wanted and there was no stress or faffing about arguing.
however, i'm not the sort of person who can do go a bar by themselves and have a great time. so the evenings were a bit **** really. i met up with a mate on the first night, and then went out alone the second, but it was rubbish. i didn't know where i was going and i ended up in **** bars that were either packed or crap.
really should have met some people in the hostel, but i was only there for 2 days so i didn't really bother.

so yeh, depends what you want to do, and really depends on where you're going and whether your personality suits it
