Going retro

Yup, not a hatch though, I have my two door range rover I restored last year and I just bought an MGB GT for restoration :-)

Just sold my MK2 Golf after owning it for 3-years. It was great, used almost daily and never missed a beat (was running bike carbs amongst other things), and I got back more that it owed me when I sold it too.

Fantastic cars, I would love one.

Yes. See car in my sig (from the 90s though). The most fun car I've ever owned and the one that has got most attention... And cost almost nothing.

Suroof open on a summers evening, actually driving the car rather than feeling like a passenger with a steering wheel.

I had a J reg G60 cruise next to me on the motorway today, sounded lovely and I love the look of it. Saw it straight away on the slip road with it's square lights.

Its strange how these cars are thought of nowadays 10 years ago a xr2, gte, RS turbo, golf gti etc would have been classed chavs cars.

I now see it that a real nice honest std ish example is sought after and would turn heads more than today's type of cars

I'd love a decent condition R5 GT Turbo but sadly I think there aren't any left. If there are then they'll be about £20k I bet.

Always, I love old cars and go through phases of lusting after diferent cars, hate most new cars too, they just don't do anything for me.

I do not know why but I feel like im going to buy a Ford Xr2 very soon as a weekend toy over my Nissan Nivara company vehicle.

Do you mean a mk2 XR2?

I had two of these back in '95 when I was 17; one was Ford Crystal Blue and the other Ford Diamond White. I loved them at the time but rust was the main enemy (that and insurace). The Blue one ('87) had a wing that was starting to go, but the White one ('88) was rotten in every panel - doors, sills, bonnet, boot.

I'd be amazed if many of these were left in one piece, I don't think I'd touch one now.

If I was going to buy an 80/90s Hot Hatch, I'd want an Integrale.

yeah a mk2 XR2, to be honest there are a few left they fetch good money too in good nick anywhere from £2k - 4k... Not sure I could feel comfortable handing over that much cash for one.

Nothing really, my Land Rover is my current 'toy'. I might get something else next year but I found I just wasn't using the Golf properly any more so decided to let someone else enjoy it and free up a little cash too.

It's already for sale again on retro rides, would be tempted if it weren't so far away!
