Or recommendations to be more precise.
£200 budget. Must be wirless and ear enclosing (to clarify, not in-ear or on-ear).
I'm really confused. I can't work out if there's an issue with PS4 and wireless headphones. And I don't understand what the controller jack is meant for.

Primarily for movies and then gaming. So mic would be preferred. Also easy to set up. Not interested in tons of config and settings etc. just plug and play.

I know there are lots of threads already but if anyone is willing to explain what issues there are, if any - and then recommend something I'm all ears! :)

I use the Sony wireless headphones. Cost about 80 quid. Wireless, has a microphone in one of the ear cups, and is easy to set up. Just plug the USB dongle into the console and switch the headphones on. None of the usual faffing around with plugs on the back of the TV.

Edit: linky.

Thanks. There's a really long thread which talks about stuff I don't even understand and it all sounds really convoluted.
Just want something to plug-in and get going.
I imagine this means a compromise on SQ but maybe I can live with that for now.

How are the 2.0s? Bass etc?

I wish someone make a wireless mic with a single ear piece. Buying that £80 headphones makes a £2k 5.1 surround pointless !

I'm no audiophile, but they sound good to me. And for ease of setup, as I said before, you can't get better. You just plug the dongle in and it works straight away, no need to mess around with settings. I was pleasantly surprised at that, because my previous wireless headset had a convoluted system routing sound signals through the TV. There's none of that nonsense with these.

I'd definitely recommend the official ps4 headset.

Sounds good, the 7.1 surround sound is very convincing, it's easy to set up, there are constant new sound profiles being relased for new games that you can install, and it's wireless. I couldn't be messing about with headsets connected to controller etc

I doubt any headphones at near your budget would provide over 100quids worth of improvement.

Honestly I'd get the official ones, buy yourself a game and keep the change :)

I was looking for a standalone mic for the ps4 but as far as i can tell they don't exist yet

I think il end up getting the official headset but a shame as i like the earphones i have they produce wonderful sound quality through the controller

Guess i will just have to use them for single players

I love the Astro A50's but they are over budget at £249 but I think they are the best wireless ones.. having said that updated model has just come out so you may be able to get the earlier version cheaper. There are online retailers that sell Manufacturer refurbished versions for under £200 with warranty etc.

I can stretch to £250 :)
Will take a look. Seeing lots of negatives with the 2.0s when it comes to bass and I like deep sounds to rumble. Especially when watching movies. Shame since the 2.0s tick every other box.

heres what i do, probably not the best quality but good enough for the price.
i use the bitfenix flo on my pc, then when i use my ps4 i use the same monitor so i just pull the cable out of the metal connector thing on the cable and plug the cable from the headset in to the ps4 controller, if i want to use the mic i just plug it in to the headset and yes it works with ps4.
dont forget to set the all audio option to the controller in the ps4 settings
