Going to Brisbane on Thursday

on holiday for 3 weeks, anyone been and fancy giving me any tips on what to do or see?

Also, stopping at Singapore for a couple of hours, figured I might pick up something cheap... eh, as in electrical goods - I was thinking an iPod? Don't know what else really.

Was in Singapore last year and the electrical stuff isn't anywhere as cheap as it used to be....in fact - most gadget type items are more expensive.

You would also be hard pushed to get the shopping in if you are there for a few hours only.

As for Brisbane.... beautiful spot - but try and get a trip up the east coast to see the rest of Queensland (as in the Reef, Gold Coast, Fraser Island and the Daintree rainforest, which is home to the most diverse range of plants and animals on earth - even more than the Amazon) - it is my favorite state in Aus... and there are some fantastic spots. If I had time/money - I would spend about 2 months there.

Hope you have a ball - just watch out for the Insects - as everything is big and most are poisonous.

Have a look at the Botanical Gardens. They're a great place to spend a few relaxing hours.

You can go pay Steve Irwin a visit at Australia Zoo, or have a tour of the Castlemain brewery. Mmm

As divosuk said, the rest of Queensland is great. Just south of Brisbane is Surfers Paradise, with theme parks, shops and beaches. South of that again is Byron Bay, a really relaxed surfers town with a great beach. It's worth taking a day trip to Nimbin, the drugs capital of Australia

North of Brisbane you've got Fraser Island, which is great. Loads of places offer 3 day self drive 4x4 tours of the island, where they give you a jeep and camping equipment and you go where you want. The island itself is really big with beaches, forest and a number of lakes to swim in.

Even further north are the Whitsunday Islands. Again there are numerous reasonably priced tours of the islands. You spend 3/4 days on a yacht going round the various beaches, including the world famous Whitehaven beach.
