enough is enough, time to buy it, but i need a bit of help..

id get the xtreme gamer but it only has 3plugs + mic, ive got optical and digital leads on my Z5500 and id want to use them..

so im thinking to buy this

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ied 7.1 Sound Card - OEM (PCI) (30SB077200000)

so whats the difference between that and these:

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro 7.1 Sound Card - Retail
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Professional Series 7.1 Sound Card - Retail

the fatal1ty doesnt have optical etc so im thinking its either between the titanium or the xtreme music...

what do you think.. i want to buy it before i change my mind ! :D

Asus Xonar DX 7.1 PCI-Express Sound Card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=SC-002-AS It comes with leads that convert to optical
If you can afford it get this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ame=Asus Xonar D2 7.1 PCI Sound Card - Retail

X-FI is old tech now x-fi 2 is just around the corner and creatives drivers are poor I'd go with a xonar but get an x-fi music for £25 second hand it's worth it then

thanks a lot, that D2 is looking about done...

im currently under the assumption that the X-Fi will sound better in games because of limitations in the compatibility between Xonar and games?

but turning on hardware mode it should sound better? than the X-fi?

thanks again im almost going to buy it

The Xonar does EAX 5 like the X-Fi, it just does it in software rather than hardware. On a modern PC this won't really make any difference.

Ditto with Royal Mail, I can't stand City link, had nothing but problems 3 out of 4 times.

got the sound card but having problem with it with the z-5500, im trying to use the spdif cable but it doesnt play any sound, ive set it and i see the light, ive plugged it into the coaxial and the optical socket on the z-5500 control but no sound is detected. :(

am i being a total mug trying to use the wrong cable?

edit: got it too work... however it needs it to be a proper imput, IE: movie or sorts..

for example it doesnt pick up and play the clicking sound in windows folders?

Being a Xonar users myself I can vouch for the excellency of this product.

It even has ASIO 2 drivers - in case you ever fancy a bit of midi sequencing. I get a lovely 4ms latency on Cubase with it - and that is with a lot of softsynth plug ins...

The sound quality of the Xonar is 2nd to none. I seriously need better amp and speakers as they do not do this card justice..
