Going to Crete soon, any tips?

Hello all,

I'm going to Crete, Chania to be more precise, soon with my GF and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on things to visit there or do? We are going to rent a car for the duration of our trip so we will be free to go anywhere.

I went to Kolymbari (nice hotel, naff all else) which is a few miles from Chania. The best part of our holiday was going south through the mountains to an amazing beach called Elafonissi, I'd definitely reccommend that.

The Samaria Gorge is well worth a look, be warned though its 14 KM hike but fantastic.

If you can, go to Stalis, and fancy a bit of decent-ish nightlife go to Malia...

Aghios Nikolaos is good too
