the missus and I just booked it, can't wait! Going to a week to the mainland for a wedding and there should be plenty of time to explore the coast, then it's off to the Galapagos islands for a week on a boat.

Given i just bought a plasma and a new flat i will probably end up hiring a large telephoto as i'm skint, but I can't wait, when I think of the photo opportunities I start drueling!

Just a heads up if you haven't done it before, but hiring can get expensive.

But here's a few examples of daily rates.
Canon ef 300mm F2.8 - £47.50
Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 £31.00

The rate for two weeks would be 6x the daily rate.

Prices do not include V.A.T. and optional insurance which appears to have a £250 excess and only covers use in Europe.

So... In this situation I do hear the following advice quite often:
Buy the Lens you want as cheaply as you can get it and then sell it on your return. The loss you make on the lens will likely be less than the amount you would have paid for hiring it. Especially if it's one of those peculiar white lenses. :D

Otherwise, have fun out there. :) I'd be jealous but I'm back off to Kenya for a few days end of next week. :p ;)
