Me and the better half want to go to visit Reykjavik for a long weekend in December.

Has anyone been there and can recommend some good places to eat, drink, visit?

All I know is that it will be cold and dark, and expensive! :D

Thanks!

I went there around mid October and its an amazing place, if you can take longer definately take it and go round some of the country

I cant really recommend any restaurants etc in Reykjavik but as you say it is cold, dark and expensive...worth it though

definately take a day to go to the blue lagoon though, its not far from Reykjavik

Understatement of the century. If you stick to the main tourist spots, £250 will just about see a decent meal and a couple of drinks. I might add that's not from personal experience but a friend of mine went just before summer and came back bankrupt.

I did wonder whether it would be worth hiring a car (4x4 probably) and driving around the island. Probably the only time I'll go there so want to make the most of it. The only problem I can see is due to the time of year there is only around 4 hours of sunlight a day so won't be able to sightsee much outside - unless anyone who has been is the rest of the time dark dark or like dusk?

Wrong time of year really - pretty much dark 24/7, youll also find that a lot of the roads are closed at this time of year.

Go and see the Gaysers!!! only a few hours drive, but they're mental!!!

As for eating, expect to pay £40-50 for a steak, and about £5 for a beer! Bloody nice food though, especially the lamb, tastes nothing like lamb in the UK.
