Can recommend a restaurant called Le Vaudeville. Quite expensive but looks like it has become stuck in an Art Deco time warp. You will need to book as it is so popular. The food is amazing and we have always found the waiting staff to be really friendly and most speak english too.
Don't try to do too many galleries and museaums as there are so many good ones. Check out the Conde Naste website for their 'must sees' as they always give good advice.
