I'm very surprised by the price of the 970, it's very unlike nVidia to pull such a move. So much so that I'm strongly considering a 970 or two as an upgrade in the near future, and I'm usually staunchly against giving my money to nVidia, but this move begins to address the issues I've had with them in the past.
However my only reservations are about the 256 bit memory bus, so I will keep an eye on them to see if the talk about memory efficiency are indeed true, and how much of an impact 256 bit has on their performance in memory demanding situations.
Maybe they're working on GDDR6 versions that will be ready soonish, in which case I reckon I'd buckle and buy a pair.
