...on my own. It's the university cinema, and to see the film the orphnage, which I really want to see, but none of my friends are around tonight and the gf has a meeting to go to. Kind of nervous because I don't want to look like an idiot but the films only on this week...

Has anyone else been to a film on their own, or seen the film (though I don't want this thread to become a talk about the film thread, more just experiences going to the cinema alone..)

Never done it myself but I've seen plenty of people in the cinema on their own and I don't think anything of it.

Yep. When I've worked away I've gone on my own. Don't look shifty/nervous and no-one will even bat an eyelid. Buy lots of food and enjoy :)

Well I suppose it's not that unusual - just kind of feel there's a stigma attached where you are a sad loner lol. Big bag of revels for the win :)

Many times. Once you're there whats the difference being on your own or with friends? Everyone is just staring at a screen for an hour and a half. Sure you can't discuss it afterwards but thats the way of things.

Been to a few gigs on my own too as friends didn't want to go.

Just because friends are busy or don't fancy it should stop you from enjoying yourself.

Enjoy the film.

Last year I went to the O2 Wireless Festival alone because no one would commit to go with me, just umms and aahs, I met some people I knew there and also talked to randomers, Daft Punk were unbelievably good.

I don't see anything wrong with it. You want to see the film? Go! :p

Yep, I worked away a lot in previous roles so given the choice between spending another lonely night in a hotel room or doing things like going to the cinema on my own, I always preferred to do things like going to the cinema on my own.

If you're that worried about it, arrive just before it starts and then sit next to someone... you could even get up and leave at the same time as them. People will never know you're not really with them.

I've been to the cinema by myself a few times, I don't think it is odd although I prefer to go with mates if possible, mainly to discuss the film afterwards but it isn't necessary to enjoy the film at all.

Never see the point in going on my own, might as well just stay at home, stalk the GF and make sure it is a meeting she's going to and not another man!

LOL that would be hilarious, they'd never say anything to me either just be like wtf to each other. No I'll just sit as close to the middle as possible to get a good view :)

Never done it. Whenever my girlfriend goes to the toilet I always feel quite awkward sitting there alone :(

Maybe one day :)

When I was younger, I went to the cinema on my own once to watch Spiderman!!!! :D:D Though, admittedly, I did keep looking at the entrance pretending that I was meeting someone here. Very sad I know. :p

Would I go to the cinema now on my own? Probably not since I am the sort of person that is worried about what everyone thinks of me. :(

If I saw someone in the Cinema alone, would I think they are a bit of a loser? Absolutely not and the people that do aren't worth worrying about and need a very good slapping in my opinion. :)

I used to go every Tuesday by myself. I'd have to work 8 'til 8 but there would be nobody in between 4 and 7. I just used to nip to the Cinema at the Silverlink which was just around the corner. Nobody ever found out and I did it for about 8 months :D

Why are you even giving it a second thought?
