ello..

just moved back to sunny stoke parental house and have been asked to get some wireless gear to set up a SIMPLE network for my comp and my dads laptop.

Basically, this aint my fortay, and hopefully someone in here can tell me what i need to ask for when i visit good old OCUK tomorrow. Something cheapish (around £60 if possible) and something that doesnt cut out every other second.

Theres some gear on special dealio this week.. is it any good?

cheers

Oh yeah, were on ntl if that matters ( cable vs wotever the other one is, blah, blah, blah :) )

hmmm.. think i'm gettin it

if i buy the 'Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G SpeedBooster Broadband Router/4-Port Switch (NW-006-LS)', can i use this as a modem from which i can use a normal network cable to connect to my comp.. serving as the always on bridge thing, and then by a suitable dongle for my dads lap top for all the wireless shinanigans. Is this sounding right'ish?

cheers

or would this be better for me

'Linksys WKPC54G Wireless-G Network Kit for Notebooks (NW-007-LS)'

what sort of download rates would the laptop be getting in terms of kps. Its a 2 meg line that tops out in the 230 range

ah, i see.. i see

just had a look at the 'D-Link DI-624' bundle and i think its more than the folks can be bothered to spend at £120.. it aint going to be used all that often.

Anyone know if the:

'Linksys WKPC54G Wireless-G Network Kit for Notebooks (NW-007-LS)' is any good,

it looks more suited to their pockets ;)
