Mate has a virgin tv/phone/internet package. The coaxial cable goes into his proprietary modem and a standard network cable out carries the BB.

He wants to go wireless. I see the options as either plugging the existing cable in to a router/switch which sends it wireless.

OR a specific "cable router" that takes the cable from the wall and sends it wireless like this

Anybody been through this that can recommend a product for his use? I've never had cable so find it hard to advise him :)

all that is is a router designed to work with a cable modem

for that hardware to work he will need to use both the virgin modem and that belkin router.

cable from wall> virgin modem> CAT5 cable> router and go from there

It needs to be marked as: "DSL/cable router" or "broadband router" or "cable router" - it can't be a "DSL Router", because you need the RJ-45 input for the broadband, rather than the smaller, RJ-11 as is used for a DSL connection.
