I never really pay attention to this kind of thing, but noticed this whilst having a browse around the BBC tech site:

Golden Joysticks 2014

I'm really not sure about some if the awards! Ubi Montreal (which is the main /lead ubi studio I think?) Getting dev of the year?! Everyone's forgotten about that whole female protagonist thing then, right?

DayZ most original game?- its only been a mod for 2 and a half years...

What do you think about the awards this year?

These things are usually just indicators of which games have the biggest communities, not whether they are actually the best.

I can't believe that BF4 got the best multilayer? The game did not work for most part of the year?

Also how on earth is Dayz classed as indie game?

Best original game: DayZ- i suppose they've discounted it thus far for being a mod not a full game, and now they can give it appreciation in its standalone guise.

Best online game: Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft- kind of addictive, but not all that imo

Best storytelling: The Last of Us: Left Behind-this this, a million times this, they got it right here for sure, comes to something when you can admire a game even when you've never played it.

Best visual design: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag- twas very nice, i'll give them that, especially the epic ship battles

Best audio: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag-#oh come all you young sailor men listen to me.....# sea shanties, yep i agree there.

Most played game of the year: Rust- i'm surprised, although i guess if its from statistics i cant argue.

Best multiplayer: Battlefield 4- played it online once, got horrible owned. but anything that isnt cod i can agree with.

Innovation of the year: Oculus Rift DK2- gimme moar rez and moar hz and i'll agree to this.

Best gaming moment: The Last of Us: Left Behind - "The kiss"- defo had that "did not see that coming" factor.

Best mobile game: Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft- better than bejeweled/angrybirds/all the other old flash game ripoffs that pass for "games" in the mobile sector so yeah

Most wanted: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt- can't say thats my sentiments, but i'll not disagree that its an anticipated title.

Studio of the year: Ubisoft Montreal- lolwut, when naughty dog was an option!?

Gaming platform of the year: Steam- yeah sure, i'll go with that.

Personality of the year winner PewDiePie, the biggest knob jockey on the internet?

I'm sure this Golden Joystick award is reliable

Ubisoft shouldn't be winning any awards
Studio of the year: Ubisoft Montreal

The studio was opened in 1997, with government funding.

He decided to have the government invest in the labour force by giving Ubisoft $25,000 per employee they hire in Montreal for the next five years,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubisoft_Montreal

government gives $25,000 per employee and they now have 2,100 employees today..
But don't know if the government still funds them.As i didn't read it all..
