Just got mine from Play this morning and the noise reduction doesn't work, just creates a hiss in the right ear. Already printed a returns form, now to buy from SuperFi and see what happens.
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=7095Hi all,
I am working for Phitek, the company that designed and marketed the Blackbox products.
I read your comments and I thought it would be good to give you some explanations.
Christelle indeed left the company a couple of months ago. That is probably the reason why some of you never got any reply from her directly.
However, we usually reply to any customer queries coming through [email protected].
We really care about customer satisfaction. That is the reason why we are always happy to receive customers comments and to give them explanations when it is needed.
The plastic issue is actually a legacy manufacture problem that we know for the M14.
The plastic is cracking but can also become even worse when consumers use cosmetics. Indeed the use of hair gel or perfumes for instance when wearing the Blackbox M14 leads to a chemical reaction that make the plastic be more cracking.
The next production of the M14 will solve this problem but meanwhile we do not have any problem for replacing them as it is a known manufacture issue.
I cannot tell you yet when the new version (that will not be different except for the type of plastic of the caliper) will available but that will definitely be for 2008. I will leave another comment on this discussion to let you know when the new stock is available.
I know about the problem that "ssc" had (please refer the comment he sent the 24-JAN-2008). I remember that the replacement has been executed last week.
Finally, regarding to the comment that "timfitz" wrote the 2-APR-2007, I want to say that Bose and Phitek are 2 different entities. Phitek is a New Zealand company, based in Auckland, that designed its own technologies. By the way the ANR technology - the noise cancellation used for the Blackbox C14 and M14 - is a Phitek Trade Mark.
Should you have any question, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
Customers testimonies and comments are also always welcome!
Clement
How long is your cable? It should be 1.0m.
I don't think play would knowingly sell fakes. These things do sometimes find their way into the supply chain somewhere though (as happened with my game a few years ago).

, although I am sort of relieved that it's not just me that has had issues recently. It's interesting to hear about the Phitek issues, let's hope that Superfi's stock is from an earlier batch. I'm still waiting for my refund from Play, they haven't even acknowledged receipt yet though.I'm sorry to hear that you've had problems with the ns1000's Mint Sauce, although I am sort of relieved that it's not just me that has had issues recently. I wasn't talking about the 1.8m to 1m reduction. There's been a case of someone returning a set to Play then getting a replacement from Superfi via Amazon. The replacement set was fine but they did notice that the cable on the good set was slightly shorter.
Edit: bad batch or fakes? Either way let's see if we can find ways to identify them. Measuring the cable seems one way. Any other thoughts? Macro photos of certain parts?
Got my NS1000s from Superfi this morning, they're perfect and have the shorter cable. Although I didn't measure the last cable this one is shorter, too short in my opinion!
Same as I thought, I wonder why they are making them so short?
Yeah - I got the original 1.8m cable and am considering getting a shorter one for use when I'm doing household chores.
I found the passive sound to be fine, the plastics to be ok (in the 5 mins they were out of the box) and the comfort to be good.
