Golf Mk4 - Wiper Speed problem

I'm hoping you guys can diagnose a problem for me.

The fastest speed of my wipers doesn't work and just doesn't move at all. All the other speeds work, and the variable nobbly thing on the stalk works too.

Any idea what could be wrong?

I would be guessing it's a fault on the stalk... don't hear many issues at all with stuff like that on MK4's really.

My cousin had this problem on her MK1 Leon, turned out to be the stalk as Stormster suggested. It was reasonably cheap to fix but i cant remember the exact price.
