Right after the disaster that was called Mini i just been and picked this up for my daughter.

06 car 1.6 SE FSi auto, i think its auto for her from now on.

Anyway the paint has got what looks like water marks or tree sap on it but no amount of rubbing seems to be getting them out, i cant take a decent picture because im a bit useless, i got these outside the blokes house.

Any ideas at getting these marks out? It almost looks like its in the lacquer, very strange.

I think its too widespread to be bird poo, it seems like the whole bloody car gas got it over it.

Without a better pic it's hard to speculate.

Shes gone out to get it cleaned il have another go later at another of my quality pictures, i cant find the bloody camera so its down to the phone.

If it's raised up off the lacquer it's likely to be contaminates which it should be possible to clay/tardis off.

If it's etched' into the lacquer then it does sound like bird-poo or some other contaminate has eaten into it and this can only be repaired with some form of cutting compound, whether it's a polisher or sandpaper the result will be the same.

Either way, it's a lot of work if it's all over the car. Was it parked under a tree for the last four years without being cleaned?

It aint moved much in the last 6 months but it wasnt under a tree.

Iv never seen anything like it.

What happened to the Mini?!

Ah yes the Mini, she had a problem with reversing down the the ditch, then the back of that mans Mondeo at the lights and last but not least a close encounter with a bit of a tree :)

We have, after a family meeting decided an auto is they way forward :)

Ok clay is not working, i cant get a decent picture for love nor money, the best way i can describe it is water marks in the lacquer.

Its all over the rear quarter panels roof and down the passenger side, any other ideas before i get someone out?

Could be marking from all the dust and ash we had? I would ring around the bodyshops/detailers and see how much a mop would be with some g3. If the paint is rough and the clay aint touching it, it could be a sign of cheap repair.

I dont think its had a whack, it would have to have been the whole back end and roof, its obviously just been sat in the wrong place.

Il get someone out to machine polish it.

No rainbow effect, i think NVP might be on the right track though.

Literally by the sounds of it!

I'm dreading teaching my daughter to drive. She's incredibly intellectual without an ounce of common sense or appreciation for anything mechanical!

Im telling you its character building ;)

Yah the bloke has finished and now its shiny, he said he didnt know what the marks were from but they are gone now :)

It's not a new Big Track or a Steve Austin with full space rocket that turns into an operating theatre type excitement is it, that was special.

I had a Steve Austin, with the bionic eye, that was exciting!

Care to state the cost of the whole thing? Merely out of curiosity.

250 quid to sort out the panels that needed doing and put a coat of Collinite on it for her.

So he had to do the hatch, 2 rear quarter panels and roof, plus 2 back doors with whatever was needed to get the marks out, then the rest of the car to get rid of the swirls.

No point doing the engine or inside, that will be full of rubbish and shoes in a week anyway.
