Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to help...
My pc had a brain fart, crashed and then on restart I had no signal to the monitor... plugged the HDMI lead into the on-board graphics and it works.
Device manager is showing that my graphics card isn't there..

Any ideas as to why the graphics card has disappeared? It's a 6gb 1060 bought during black Friday year before last.

Anything from a bad driver to a dead graphics card or bad PSU.

Do a complete removal of the GeForce drivers and reinstall them and see if the card is recognised again. Then we go from there...

card still doesn't show up, its as if i'd taken it out..
the pc is still running and the onboard graphics a re fine.. ish.. so I guess its not the PSU?

Could be the 8-pin PCIe on the PSU has gone so the GPU isn't getting enough power and therefore not kicking in, hence not being detected. If you don't have any other PCIe connectors on your PSU you could try, there is this purely for diagnostic purposes

Just to get power into the GPU for testing, not for actually running permanently :p

Does the card show up in the BIOS as a valid display output option? Can you put the card into another machine to test it?

It's possible also that this isn't hardware, it's software. Can you move the GPU to a different PCIe 16 slot and see if Windows detects it as a new device? What happens in Device Manager if you right-click and say "scan for hardware changes"? Maybe the BSOD screwed up the hardware registry and a fresh reinstall will resolve it.

Got it working again.... reset windows so all my clutter was gone, took the card out... put it back and presto all running again... but that's worrying me now, why would it suddenly just disappear then come back like that?
My partners son has just moved in with us and his card did the same but he hasn't got it working again, been nearly a week now, then mine goes the same way today... strange..
Thank you so much for your help mate, very much appreciated.
