Good 24" for gaming...

I'm happy with my Yuraku 24" P-MVA. It's one of the panels in the OC-UK value monitor lucky dip bag. I've not noticed any ghosting or input lag and it's been great in TF2. Cost me £200 delivered which is well within your budget.

My Hyundai W240D-TN is great for gaming.

Viewing angles aren't great (TN panel) and colour out of the box is a bit to vibrant but for refresh speed and excellent low input lag i'd say it's a very good gaming screen.

There's also a PVA version available too.

FW-900 ! :D the daddy!

off an auction site for £120-150 :p

On a more serious note..what type of games for?

FPS, strategy...anything really. Also for watching movies and the like.

Have been looking at:

Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP 24" (once the update comes)

BenQ FP241W 24" (although a little over budget)

Samsung SM-2493HM 24" (heard it mentioned now and again)

Hazro HZ24W 24" (advised by TFT Central...the TFT selector)

Have no idea though to be honest. I currently have an NEC 1970GX which is a lovely screen...quick response rates and opticlear covering which is like looking through a window. But now want a 24" widescreen...well within the next few months :)

I wouldn't bother, the update isn't going to fix the ridiculously high input lag as it's inherent in the RTC (overdrive) on that Samsung panel (see also the 245T which is also problematic)

Got one, love it. Lag is about 30ms on average, which is fairly good for a 24" screen (they all seem to have some lag). Thing of beauty and the image quality is out of this world. Blacks are only average, but that's a drawback with S-IPS screens not a fault with this specific monitor. Was watching 28 weeks later yesterday and whilst the dark scenes were a bit muddy it was very watchable.

I was going to get this monitor but video playback is probably the most important thing to me (ahead of games and general usage). I thought as it was S-IPS it would be a good choice but not any more. Definitely don't want anything looking muddy, was it HD you were watching?
