I've decided to buy the Onkyo TXNR414 receiver for £170 after a lot of procrastinating and now need speakers to go with it. Richer Sounds does a bundle deal with the Onkyo and Tannoy 5.1 speakers for £350, but I've read those speakers are a nightmare to fix to any stands other than Tannoy's (which cost £80 per pair - not a chance).

Any suggestions? I am not hugely fussed about a 5.1 set - a good 3.1 set would do the job.

You could have a look at the Yamaha YHT-398 system that was essentially the old 373 but with a different model number and some nice 5.1 speakers it was £400 before christmas richer sounds where selling them for £250 last month.

I considered the YHT-398, but the lack of network connectivity in the 373 put me off - I'd rather cough up a bit more now for a receiver with more potential.
