Good AGPs? Worth it?

Hey,
I bought a OcUK GeForce 7300 GT (PCI-E) graphics card as a birthday present for my brother and it was only later when he attempted to fit it that we found out that he doesn't have a PCI-E x16 slot on his motherboard.

Needless to say I'm a bit disappointed because not only is it a bargain card but I know he would have really appreciated it so now I'm not sure what to do.

The OcUK GeForce 7300 GT was to replace his old FX5200 as it's not allowing him as much freedom in the few games he plays on his computer. He currently plays LOTR Online which is quite demanding and I just wanted to give him a good improvement on the game's performance, something I believe the 7300GT would have done.

Now it seems the only choice is to return the card for an AGP but I have little experience with AGPs and I'm not sure at all about the performance.

What would be the best AGP card to get for a similar price that would offer a significant improvement over an FX5200 and that would also work on a cheap unknown wattage PSU?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

try to find a 6800. it should do a good job for their age and price. but im not certain of the prices of these though, shouldnt be too expensive

you aren't going to get anything new for the same price as the 7300gt. the cheapest new card worth getting would be a 7600gs at around 60 sheets. :)

i agree 7600gs is best option for 60 odd quid. my media pc runs one and it can run a load of games very well at 1360x768. all depends on what rez you intend to run at and which games you intend to play.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, the 7600 sounds like the best bet but it's a bit pricey.

I thought of a new idea to sort out this predicament; my dad has agreed to give his old computer (which I'm sure has a PCI-E slot) to my brother if he wants it but my only concern is that it's quite a bit older than my brother's computer so I'm not sure how it will compare. I don't want my brother to have an older, worse computer just so he can use a newer graphics card.

Anyway, I'll get the specifications of both computers and I'd really appreciate help with comparisons.
