I've just bought my first DSLR (Canon 700D) and would like some recommendations for a good all round lens.

Would the Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Lens be a good choice or the Tamron AF18-270mm VC PZD Zoom Lens?

Price range would be up to £300.

Think it's generally accepted that superzooms with a massive focal range like that tend to be quite sucky :/ If you can deal with the image quality then I guess it's convenient but personally I'd always prefer to get a sharper picture if I can.

It depends on why you want to buy a new lens really! If you're happy with the range of the lens and want sharper pictures then the 17-55mm F2.8 lens from Canon is nice and there's a few third party alternatives.

If you chose those lenses as examples because you want more range then the 50-250mm STM lens would be worth a look.

It all depends on what you're trying to achieve by buying a new lens really :)
