Been having a few BBQs lately and started making my own steak burgers. It got me thinking who else does this, and any other additions.

Best burger(s) so far:
-----
500g steak mince
salt + pepper
sundried tomatoes - chopped (3 or 4, or more if you wish)
tomato puree - 1 to 2 table spoons
chorizo - sliced and diced

Mix all together so gain is lost from mince and then press by hand to the size that you want
----

Does anyone else have something they like to put together be it beef, pork or lamb based?

I'll never understand why anyone puts anything in a burger that isn't meat/fat/seasoning.

I reckon pork belly is one of the finest things to go on a BBQ, with a decent rub

Lamb and harrisa

Juicy Lucy's

But generally like to keep the burger simple, it's all about the toppings.

Other than that loads of stuff

Butterflied leg of lamb, olive oil and stud with garlic and rosemary then make a chimichurri sauce
Spatchcock chicken marinaded in well any flavour.
Skillet cornbread (check out primal grill or bbq pit boys)
Bbq baked beans (primal grill http://www.primalgrill.org/recipe_details.asp?RecipeID=18&EpisodeID=4 )
Potato salad other mums or you guessed it primal grill

And it's not a proper bbq without racks of ribs. Memphis rub and bbq sauce.

I picked up the Pitt Cue cook book recently which is amazing for BBQ food. Loads of ideas for sauces, jellies (BBQ Jelly :D), drinks, deserts, starters, rubs and of course meat - everything centred on BBQ. Would definitely recommend it.

I actually like finely chopped jalapenos mixed in, adds a nice bit of flavour to the burgers. :)

Made some epic chiili burgers last year

Steak mince, extra hot nandos sauce as a binding agent lol
Salt and pepper
Fincly chooped chilli of choice csnt remember what
We did add a few herbs but forgot

Man they were so yummy, perfect heat.

Two days later my dad who had visited and helped make them and eat had a major heart attack which requires a heart transplant, somehow not felt like making them since lol

I made a couple using Barbecue Pitboys recipes... turned out amazing. I can't quite remember the name of them but it's on their on their Youtube channel somewhere. It's a great resource for BBQing it has many of types burgers and other delicious bbq recipes, definitely my go to place for something nice to cook on the bbq.

I think the trick for me was using crushed up crackers rather than bread in the mix.

With the same recipe i've also made some tasty American sliders (mini burger).. which was learnt from a Man vs Food episode. Press a thin burger on a hot plate and when you flip it stick some shredded onions into the uncooked side.. then a few minutes more for it to cook through. Serve one or two stacked with melted cheese on top, optional jalapenos, optional ketchup all in a very lightly toasted soft bun... Slides right down :D

Sounds delicious but I never really agreed with the idea of fish counting as "no meat" :)

I agree in the literal sense. I kind of go by "we eat too much meat as a nation", and by that I interpret it to mean the obvious (beef, pork, lamb, chicken). Fish certainly isn't over eaten in the UK. I try and do at least 3 "meat" free dishes a week, one of which is veggie, the other two often have fish :)

To be honest I eat tons of meat (probably way too much). I also love a lot of vegetarian dishes. I just don't agree with people claiming to be vegetarian when they also eat fish. Not really a big deal... I was just being a pedant :p
