Can anyone suggest a good benchmarking program ? Away to do a Win 7 re-install and wanted to see if it made much of a difference. I feel this build has gotten a bit too messy and wanna wipe it clean.

Downloaded the program, is this only for nvidia tho ? I got a ATI 5870, just looking for something to kinda test he pc as a whole and check what it's like after the re-install.

Heaven is a good benchmark to test your GPU with. As for one that does both, not sure.

No, it's good for ATi or Nvidia. You just can't do the GPU memory specific test on ATi and OCCT will gray out that option.

Quite a big difference, the first run before install was pretty jumpy, like the computer was struggling to load something. The second run was very smooth and didn't have any stops for loading. Any idea what would make the windows build degrade like that over time ?

Before New Install

FPS: 17.5

Scores: 440

Min FPS: 3.1
Max FPS: 40.2

After Install

FPS: 21.5

Scores: 542

Min FPS: 2.5
Max FPS: 41.6

Hard to say. Corrupt windows files from virus or system instability. Could have had active virus' consuming resources. Could be lots of things. Fresh is always nice though. Keep a good antivirus program.

I don't really use antivirus programs, which my mates keep saying is really stupid but I they just tend to annoy me in the corner doing stuff. I've just my pc set-up with an Achronis backup of everything installed from a clean install with drivers most used programs ect, takes about 5 mins to load image and boot back into windows, then about 10 mins to install latest drivers or whatever. Out of interest which anti virus programs do you guys use ? I think i'll install one this time just to be safe.
