Hi all.

Just put my hand in my pocket money today (Im 29 not literally lol).
After saving up since the 8700k release; realising it wasn't worth the £ due to demand. Since the 8700k release days (don't mention that release) things have changed a lot.

I will be going from an:

CPU: 3820 i7 @ 4.625 ghz
Cooler: Noctua NH-14D
Mobo: Asus Sabertooth X79 LGA2011
RAM: Team Group DDR3 1166 mhz memory running in quad channel (why I went 2011 back in the day)
GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 1070Ti Mini (originally a 780Ti back in the day)
Main storage: Samsung EVO 850 1TB SSD

New setup will be:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700X
Cooler: Noctua NH-14D
Mobo: Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO
RAM: Team Group 8Pack Edition 16GB 3600MHz
GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 1070Ti Mini
1st Game drive: Samsung 870 Evo
2nd storage: Samsung EVO 850 1TB SSD + 4TB HDD

What benchmarks do people run nowadays? I just thought It would be funny to compare / see the results of 7 years since I built my old PC. Before I dismantle the old workhorse :(

Here's an old PC which still does gaming fine but soon to be retired:

Not sure about benchmarks.

For games, I can't see you gaining much with the upgrade.
Really? I think it's going to shred my i7 3820 personally, gaming wise. That's the whole point of this post.

With the delay in time for it to arrive (for obvious reasons) I want to spend the time running various tests to see the difference and post them here to see the difference from a 'enthusiast' board back in the day compared to a 'consumer' board nowadays.

Especially as my 1070Ti has always been 'bottlenecked' by this CPU and Motherboard.

What are the general things people run nowadays to test their CPU's and GPU's? Back in the day it used to be 3D Mark but now you have to pay for it?
