Hi,

All I'm after are suggestions for current good mame frontends.
What do you use and why have you picked it over the dozens of others out there??

I'm downloading and trying some but many are out of date and others take a fair ammount of configuration to get sorted the way I'd like, so I may be missing features or simply not giving them the attention they require.

Thanks :)

Please, please, please no talk of roms, rom sites, bios or any warez, or the thread will be closed by mods, cheers :)

I just use MAME32 for Windows. The reason? Simple I have the History / Screenshot / Bezel / Marquee / etc. of the games in there.

It depends on the purpose. Are you thinking of having a PC for putting in an Arcade Cab and then having it auto-boot into that? If you are then I quite like the look of mGalaxy (which is very neat and shows a screenshot of the game you are about to play - if, like me, you can't remember some of them it comes in handy) - http://www.mgalaxy.com/

Got everything I need just there. Still not played all of those games though ......

Cheers guys :)

It will eventually go in a cabinet but not anytime soon it seems.
My main concern was getting CPS2 - 3 games in the right ratio, the street fighter games specifically. A lot of versions of mame emu's and front ends render them as full screen (stretched to fill the screen) and despite them being perfectly playable like that they just aren't right.....

Anyway, I've found mame 32 plus plus (yep it's actually called plus plus!!) which has kaillera support and you can change the pixel ratio via TAB ingame. Not sure if this effects all games yet, need to try some SNK games which always ran on a full (square) screen ratio to see whether I'll need to do this every time I change games or whether it saves individual settings for games...
As the above pic of Mame 32 it seems pretty customisable too.

EDIT: Mgalaxy does look pretty good though!! I'll have a play around with it, see if I can set it up to suit me :)

Wow!!!..thats amazing, where do you keep all those Arcade cabinets? do you rent a warehouse or something?.....seeing as your only supposed to have backup ROMS for PCB's you actually own...;)..:D

i prefer mame32FX to regular mame32

also check out easymame it has the best interface of all but it doesn't have the mame exe built in like mame32 so will need to download the comandline version of that seperately

If you would prefer to use your cps2 games in correct aspect ratios then i'd probably recommend using kawaks. It only supports CPS1 CPS2 and neogeo games (last time i checked anyway) so you will probably still want to use mame for your other legally owned arcade machines ;)

Just because it's listed doesn't mean he has the ROM's installed... and I have a loft so theortetically I guess I could store 5000 PCB's.. lol

big loft...:D

Anyway, im not one to talk, i just updated my set to the latest Mame 127...all 7200 of them...dunno why, after 10 years of using Mame, i doubt i've ever played more than 10% of the games once...:o

Yeah theres a lot of dupes. The CHD's are the killer currently at @ 80 odd GB (ouch!).

I've played a hell of a lot of em - I'd say pre-CHD's 90%.
