Good bike lock/alarm? + insurance Q

This is here due to its serious ness and I cba with GD.. I'll get a better response here from the cycle nuts


So, student house, have had 2 bikes nicked recently (first was mine and i caught them/phoned police etc.) my mates went last night, they cut the wire and made off with it...


Now, my bikes a gt avalanche 3 which i love to bits, so im gonna be sorting out insurance (need to read up on how that works) but im scared of leaving it outside now and we dont have the room to really keep one bike inside the house let alone 4.

Regards to insurnce, whos good, whats the ins and outs with bike insurance?


Being working at uni we have just cleaned out the bike sheds and stored all the "left over" bikes, now, we snipped through every single wire/U lock, within a few mins, it wasnt hard in the slightest. So is there actually anything safe to use out there or?

a word on insurance...

http://www.immobilise.com/insurance/ will insure your bike if its locked with a listed approved lock (kryptonites are dandy ) and attached to an unmovable object (i have a secured bike attachment bolted/set into a wall here so im guessing that..)

• The bicycle must be kept inside and any security devices made operational
• All external doors must utilise a 5 lever mortice deadlock or 5 lever padlock or
• The bicycle must be secured using one of our approved locks, through the frame, to an immovable object.

If you leave your bicycle unattended away from the insured location it must:

• Be secured using one of our approved locks, through the frame, to an immovable object
• Not be left unattended at a train station for more than 24 hours.

My quote was 41quid a year which aint bad.
