I have a Q9550 on a P5Q Pro board 8GB RAM and 2 x 4870HD cards in X-Fire. (the first of the type with 512mb RAM)

Now this setup does not play SWTOR very well unless I turn the settings to low or medium. Compared to my other RIG with a 580GTX Its just completely unplayable.

Now the CPU, board and RAM are good for a while yet, but those cards, they are beyond usefulness. So its time to replace with something new.

My wife has an original 560ti and that functions relatively well but I thought I would ask for suggestions on my budget of around 200 quid.

Not the GTX480, just dont like the card and dont want to be fussed with buying aftermarket coolers etc.

So thinking either a 560ti 448 edition, or stumping the extra for a 570 - the gainward goes like hell one seems to be good but I don't know the brand and so not sure on buying a superclocked card.

On the AMD front I am totally out of touch. I can't afford the 300+ for the new 7900 series cards, and the reports on the 6800 series seems to be all over the place - just not sure what to believe. 6900 series seems to fall just outside of my price range too.

Any suggestions ?

I believe the HD 7850 will be available from next monday (the 19th) and will cost ~£200. So if you can wait, that would be the card I would go for considering your budget.

Looking at this review, it should be a nice match for TOR.

Yep get the 560Ti 448 version, then get a second one later if you can afford it and your mobo/PSU supports SLI.
The board is a X-Fire board sadly :-( PSU is ok.

Oh, hmm yes then I think I will wait for the 19th. If they come in at £200 it definitely is the winner I think.

6950/70 would be your best approach, but the GTX 480 at the special price on here at the moment really is a no brainer...

Erm, you're ruling lots of options out mate.
I've had a 480, granted it was an earlier model, but I simply had to get rid of it. It had issues and man it was loud. The 580 replaced it last year.

Overall I think its wait and see till next week and what pricepoint the 7850's drop in at. Really did not realise we were that close to their release.
