Good case under £60

Ok, im planning my first build soon and as its my first build, i dont really want an expensive case incase (<- -sigh- :rolleyes:) it goes wrong. i was thinking about the Antec 300 but id quite like something with a clear side and maybe 3 or 4 fans O.o, it needs to be quite big as the cpu cooler im getting is pretty big. Ermm so yeah, all suggestions are appreciated :)
 
Id say the CM590 or CM690, You can get these with windowed panels but not from OcUK though.

I currently have the antec 300 is a very good case, but im slowly moving over to the CM590 as it has better cable management without me having to mod things, but the 690 is even better for cable manangement.

But most cases under 60 will take the bigger coolers, just sometimes u can't use the sidepanel fan is all, which to me is no big deal as i allways block those fans up anyway.
 
Im not too keen on the styling of the CM590 that much :( (thanks for the suggestion though) are there any other good cases preferably that come with a clear side panel under £60
 
I'm looking in your price bracket too. I'm umming and ahhing over the merits of the Antec 900 vs NZXT Lexa S atm.
Lexa S looks tasty with smoked side panel, styling, cable management and good fan options. Plus, you can have it for under £50 inc delivery (sadly not on sale at OcUK atm) if you search.
Antec looks a bit more traditional, popular, good airflow and no cable management. More expensive though.

Got to make my mind up soon if I want it in time for my annual Crimbo frigaroundfest. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. ;)
 
When it comes to cable management (holes in the mobo tray) and finishing touches like interior paint, and case windows that are the same on every unit of the model, why not just buy the cheaper case and cut the holes and paint it yourself?
It's not difficult by any means.
With regards to both paint, windows and holes, if you DIY you get a build thats more tailored to YOUR set up, and it's then a one off, custom. You might not want the interior in black, so why let antec, CM, LL, NZXT tell you what you want?
Okay, some will want black. Some will want holes in the mobo tray that dont square up to their mobo as well as if they'd but the tray themselves.
Some will want the same case window as EVERYBODY else.

But where have our imaginations gone, are we that dull???

Judge the product on how its built, put the function before the form.

If everyone did this, they would buy a case on just 2 factors....
Airflow and size, it would leave the rest upto the builer's imagination and ingenuity.

Imagination, remember that?

I'd look at the lancool K58, it has a lot of nice features not usually seen at this price range and doesn't look as offensive as most of the cheap tacky gaming cases do.

Maybe you missed the part where budget was mentioned? :confused:
By the time you've bought the hole saws, grommets, paint gun + paint / powder coated treatment etc you're into a hell of a lot more money than we are talking.
Sub £60'ish would get me an Antec 200 cheaply sprayed and a hole saw if I'm lucky. :rolleyes: Nice.

Thanks for the helpful advice though...
 
Depends on what you're trying to cool I guess. I assumed since the budget was at the lower end it wasn't an OC'd i7 or anything like that!

Can I just say, you DONT need a spray gun, a tin of etch primer and 2 satin black/gloss white/hazard yellow/(take ya pick) is sufficient for any case interior. My local motorfactor does all their rattle cans @ £4.20ea =12.60 for a good thick interior paint job. My local automotive paint suplier will do ANY car paint you want, custom mixed while-u-wait for £7 a tin! Add your primer, and you can do an interior or exterior of your case in Focus ST Asbo Orange for £20 or less. I never count consumables costs(wet n dry, tac rags etc-)These things are just handy to have around regardless.
Cases, or anything that constitutes the 'pretty bit' is there to be modded.
Do it over time, make it your own, do it better than someone else ;)

Tongue in cheek now, but if you dont own a dremel/hole saws, or even have access to them, then youre not a real man :D

I see your point mate, but why follow the beaten path when its more fun bounding over the hills?
