My dad's looking for one of these for his laptop. He's currently using a cheapish wireless one, can't remember the brand but it eats through rechargable batteries. He tried my MX518 and prefered it, since it was much more responsive too.

Anyway, his birthday is coming up, so I though I'd get him a nice new fast mouse. But I'm not sure what to go for. If its wireless, I'd prefer it if it had one of those charging stations rather than needing a stream of batteries to feed it.

I'm using a logitech VX nano at work. Very good mouse and lasts a while on its batteries.

At home I was using an MX revolution. Fantastic mouse but it's since died and refusing to charge. Which seems to be a common fault. However logitech 3 year warranty entitles me to a new one when i can be arsed to send it back. Trusty MX510 is holding the fort, despite being used so much the paint has worn off the logo :D

VX Revolution.
Absolutely brilliant mouse, couldn't live without it.

The extra buttons (Zoom +/-, Search Button etc) can easily be mapped using SetPoint.
Battery life on it is above average I would say, and it only takes 1 AAA battery (works with Rechargables aswell).

And, like Skidilliplop said, the warranty ensures the mouse is covered.
