Good co-op games?

I don't know how casual you want to go, but the Lego games by Traveller's Tales have quite fun (if simple) co-op gameplay - but it's local only. Not really going to meet the "exciting" requirement, but worth a look if you haven't considered it already.

Borderlands is good fun co-op. It's fun but it's a shooter. Borderlands 2 looks awesome fun as well. Look out for TorchLight 2 and Diablo III. Still a fair bit away.

Don't know much about 'casual' co-op games on PC. Metal Slug? :D L4D2 is rather dark, still, very funny at times!

I suppose you could play Guild Wars co-op. It's an instanced MMO, and I play it as a co-op game.

Saints row 2, Magicka, Portal 2, Dead Rising 2.
All co-op mode, all be it Saints Row 2 isn't the best of console ports but probably the most fun out of the lot.
All brilliant if you are looking for fun over super serious games.

Dungeon Siege 3 has quite good support for the game pad, lots of people didn't like it, as a co-op game I enjoyed it.

No idea how any of them play with a pad though, used KB+M for them all.
